AI Detected at Han River Found to be Lowly Pathogenic Strain

The avian influenza(AI) antigens recently detected in the feces of wild birds along the Han River have been confirmed to be a low pathogenic strain.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on Wednesday that of the four samples of bird feces collected from an ecological park in Gangseo District and Jungnang Stream in Jungnang District, two were low pathogenic while the other two had no virus.

The feces were found carrying AI antigens last Friday, prompting the government of the capital city to block human access to the areas where the feces were collected and adjacent areas, and designate the areas within a ten-kilometer radius as a monitoring zone.

The city on Wednesday lifted the measures.
