Monaco-based investment fund Sovereign Asset Management, the biggest shareholder of SK Corp., demanded Monday that three incumbent directors of South Korea's top oil refiner relinquish their posts without further delay since they have been convicted on fraudulent accounting charges.

Lazard Asia Chairman Oh Ho-keun told reporters the three directors should step down immediately.

He said the company needs to pick new outside directors "well-acquainted in principles of corporate governance."
