Daejong Film Awards Names ‘A Taxi Driver’ Best Picture of the Year

South Korea's blockbuster film on the country's May 18th democracy movement, ‘A Taxi Driver,’ was named the best picture of the year at the 54th Daejong Film Awards on Thursday.
 
The film was also awarded the 'best planning' prize at the prestigious annual ceremony, which was held at the Sejong Center in central Seoul.
 
Lee Jun-ik, director of 'Park Yeol,’ a movie on Korea's independence movement during the years of Japanese occupation, won the 'best director' award.
 
The leading actress in 'Park Yeol,’ Choi Hee-seo, was named both best rookie actress and best actress for her performance. 
 
Crime film ‘The King’ picked up prizes for best screen play, best supporting actor and actress and best editing.
