A joint theater production by South Korea and France will embark on a monthlong French tour.

The play "The Empire of Lights" is an adaptation of a novel by Korean novelist Kim Young-ha with the same title.

The novel is about a North Korean spy living in South Korea. He has been forgotten by the North for 20 years until one day he receives an order to return home within 24 hours. 

Jointly produced by the National Theater Company of Korea and the Orléans National Drama Center in France, the play premiered in Korea in March last year and was staged at the French center two months later in May.

The play will be in Korean with French subtitles.
