South Korea Ranked 37th in Per Capita Exports Last Year

The Korea International Trade Association (KITA) said Tuesday South Korea ranked 37th in terms of per capita exports among 186 countries in 2002.

While trade volume reached $162.5 billion, the 12th highest in the world, the per capita export figure was recorded at $3,410, a 7.3 percent rise from 2001.

Singapore topped the list of per capita exports, followed by Hong Kong and Luxembourg. The figures for Singapore and Hong Kong include re-exports.

Japan and the United States ranked 41st ($3,272) and 48th ($2,405) respectively, though they were first and third in terms of total exports. China, the world's fifth top exporter, was 110th in its per capita figure.
