The market share of South Korean movies hit 50 percent, thanks to major films released this month.

​According to the data compiled by the Korean Film Council on Sunday, local movies recorded a 50 percent share as of Saturday.

​Fantasy blockbuster "Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds" has attracted two-point-28 million viewers in total since its release on Wednesday.
​
​"Steel Rain," which was released on December 14th, also drew two-point-77 million so far.
​
Industry watchers say that local movies are likely to post a majority share for the seventh consecutive year this year.
