KCDC Issues Cold-related Illness Advisory

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged people to be extra cautious against cold-related diseases as the nation is set to see severely frigid weather.

Such diseases refer to health problems related to a steep drop in temperature, including hypothermia and frostbite.

The center said people who suffer hypothermia should immediately go to the hospital, warning that the condition is life threatening if not treated appropriately.

According to the center, a total of 227 people suffered from cold-related illnesses between December first of last year and January eighth of this year and of that total, seven died.
