Most Parts of S. Korea See High Levels of Fine Dust Thursday

Levels of fine dust concentration remained high throughout most parts of the country on Thursday.

According to the National Institute of Environmental Research under the Environment Ministry, fine dust levels measured 106 micograms per cubic meter in Seoul and Daejeon, 107 micrograms per cubic meter in Gyeonggi Province and 101 micrograms per cubic meter in Gangwon Province as of Thursday afternoon.

Out of 17 cities and provinces, only six regions, including the cities of Ulsan, Daegu and Busan saw average levels of fine dust concentration.

The institute said Thursday saw worse air quality after levels of air pollutants had accumulated from Wednesday and after yellow dust began to blow into the nation from the early hours of Thursday.
