Chung Hyeon Becomes First S. Korean to Reach Third Round of Australian Open

South Korean tennis player Chung Hyeon has advanced to the third round of the Australian Open in Melbourne. 

Chung, placed 58th in the world rankings, defeated Daniil Medvedev of Russia in straight sets, 7-6, 6-1, 6-1, in the men's singles of the season's first Grand Slam tournament on Thursday. 

With the win, the 21-year-old became the first Korean player to reach the third round of the Australian Open.

This is Chung's second career appearance in the third round of a major. He is set to face world number four Alexander Zverev of Germany.
