Defense sources said Tuesday that an institute affiliated with the Defense Ministry has succeeded in test-firing a ship-to-ship cruise missile.

Defense Ministry officials said a test of the domestic cruise missile with a range of 150 kilometers, which has been developed by the Agency for Defense Development since the mid 1990s, succeeded Thursday.

The missile reportedly hit a target located some 70 kilometers off the east coast after being fired from a South Korean Navy vessel in the area.
