More than 77 percent of tickets to the PyeongChang Olympics have been sold as of Monday.
The Olympic organizing committee says that seven-thousand to ten-thousand tickets are sold daily on average with a total of around 826-thousand tickets sold so far.
In a news conference Tuesday at the Main Press Center in Pyeongchang, Organizing Committee President Lee Hee-beom said that ticket sales are not bad compared to past Olympics.
But he said the more expensive tickets are posting low sales and a task force led by Vice President of Games Planning Kim Ki-hong is looking into the issue.
Regarding concerns about the weather affecting the opening ceremony, Lee said it was very cold for the past few weeks but the cold wave is forecast to ease somewhat on Thursday and Friday, adding he believes it will have no effect on the opening ceremony.
The organizing chief explained that the stadium does not have a roof but windbreaks will be installed as well as 40 heaters on the second floor of the audience stands.
He said warm food will also be sold and promised utmost preparations.
