Jeju Airport Temporarily Shut Down due to Heavy Snow

Jeju International Airport temporarily shut down on Tuesday due to heavy snow and strong winds, leaving many travelers stranded and flights canceled.

The Jeju office of the Korea Airports Corporation temporarily banned the use of the airport's runways at 12:15 p.m. to have its workers shovel the snow and ice from the airstrips.

It planned to resume operations at 1:50 p.m., but the snow-removing work is being delayed due to a blizzard.

An official said that the airport resumed operations at around 3 p.m.

As of 3 p.m., 64 flights were canceled, 19 flights were forced to take detours and 82 were delayed.
