Canada Wins Gold in Women's Halfpipe Skiing

Canada’s Cassie Sharpe won the women’s halfpipe skiing final at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Tuesday.

Having finished first in the qualifying round, Sharpe again proved too strong for her rivals as she earned a best score of 95-point-80 to claim the gold at Phoenix Park.

The 25 year-old added the Olympic title to the gold medal she won in the superpipe event at the Winter X Games in 2016.

France's Marie Martinod won her second straight Olympic silver with a score of 92-point-60, while American Brita Sigourney claimed bronze.

Meanwhile, defending Olympic champion Maddie Bowman finished in last place.

The American won the inaugural women's halfpipe event at the Sochi Games in 2014, but fell on all of her three runs during the final in Pyeongchang.
