Chung Hyeon Advances to Quarterfinals of BNP Paribas Open

South Korean tennis player Chung Hyeon has advanced to the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open on the ATP World Tour, which represents men's professional tennis.

Chung, who ranks 26th in the world, beat Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas on Wednesday in two straight sets in the tenth round of the tournament held in Indian Wells, California.

The South Korean star will face world number one Roger Federer at the quarterfinals on Friday.

Chung was forced to retire against Federer in the second set at the Australian Open semis due to blisters on his foot.

The match on Friday will mark Chung's first quarterfinal appearance at a Masters 1000 tournament, which is the third-highest tier of ATP tournaments.
