Two Koreas to Hold More Talks Before Summit If Needed

Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon told reporters after holding talks with North Korea on Thursday that the two sides agreed to hold more high-level talks, if necessary, ahead of the inter-Korean summit.

Cho led a delegation to the meeting with the North where the two sides agreed to hold a summit on April 27th.

He said the two Koreas sufficiently exchanged views about the summit's agenda and agreed to prepare for talks where the two leaders can hold candid discussions.

The minister said more high-level talks can be held if needed to discuss the agenda.

Cho said the two sides also agreed to exert efforts to make the summit a success based on the shared view of its historical significance in terms of denuclearizing, establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula and advancing cross-border relations.

Regarding the summit agenda, North Korea's chief delegate Ri Son-gwon said it will include all issues raised in the two countries' relationship, adding that what the public desires is the agenda.
