South Korean golf star Park In-bee is set to once again claim the world number one ranking in women’s golf following her strong performance at a Ladies Professional Golf Association(LPGA) event.
Park finished joint second at the HUGEL-JTBC LA Open in Los Angeles on Sunday, which ensured that she will move up from world number three to the top of the new rankings when they are announced on Monday.
It will mark the first time that Park has been the number one player in women’s golf since October 2015. Overall, she has spent 92 weeks at the top of the rankings.
Park has been in good form in 2018 after recovering from a back injury which hampered her late last year, allowing her to move above the current number one and two-ranked golfers, Shanshan Feng and Lexi Thompson.
The world rankings are calculated by assessing a player’s performance over a rolling two-year period, with greater emphasis placed on the current year.
