Science Minister to Attend IAEA General Meeting in Vienna

Ministry officials said Monday that Science and Technology Minister Park Ho-koon will leave for Vienna to attend the 47th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) general meeting slated for Sept. 13-17.

At the meeting, 500 representatives from 136 countries will discuss cooperation on the development of next-generation nuclear reactors and security measures to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons.

The IAEA is an intergovernmental body and a member of the United Nations System of Organizations.

On Sept. 15, Park is slated to deliver a keynote address on nuclear hydrogen products, the creation of a higher education online network on nuclear energy and the ratification of an additional protocol on nuclear safeguards.
