With a Singaporean man being confirmed to have Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, the government is rushing to reinforce SARS preventive measures. Quarantine authorities have stepped up medical inspection of overseas travelers entering the country beginning this Chuseok holiday period. In particular, health officials are strengthening quarantine measures against travelers coming in from Singapore by making them fill out questionnaires and checking their body temperatures with infrared cameras. A SARS surveillance system which involves 125 emergency medical bodies and 47 infectious disease experts is also in effect. The National Institute of Health also plans to give flu shots to 15-million people across the country after the Chuseok holidays.
