S. Korea Preparing to Participate in Pyongyang Table Tennis Tournament

South Korea is preparing to participate in a table tennis tournament in North Korea next month.

The Korea Table Tennis Association(KTTA) on Thursday said that it will hold talks with the Unification Ministry this week before submitting entries to the Pyongyang Open tournament in the North Korean capital.

It will be the first time that the South has submitted entries to the event, which will be held from June 13th to 17th.

Park Chang-ik, a KTTA executive, said that the body has also asked North Korea to send an invitation letter to the tournament via the International Table Tennis Federation.

South and North Korea formed a joint women's table tennis team with nine competitors last week at the World Team Table Tennis Championships in Sweden, where they scooped third place.
