South Korea's Unification Ministry says it expects to hold a high-level meeting with North Korea next week to discuss the implementation of the Panmunjeom Declaration adopted at the recent inter-Korean summit.
An official at the ministry said Thursday that the meeting will likely take place next week, adding the two Koreas are discussing the time and place.
Seoul is reported to have proposed holding the meeting early next week, and is waiting for a response from Pyongyang.
Following news of the North's release of three American detainees, attention is being paid to whether the two Koreas will also discuss the release of six South Korean citizens detained by the North on charges of working for the South's spy agency.
During their summit on April 27th, President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un signed the Panmunjeom Declaration, agreeing to halt all hostile acts against each other's countries and vowing various economic cooperation efforts.
