Annual Arts and Culture Festival Opens in Seoul Plaza

An annual event featuring a series of arts and cultural performances will open in downtown Seoul on Monday.

The Seoul City government says the opening performance for the five-month-long 2018 Culture Seoul event will begin at 7 p.m. in Seoul Plaza in front of City Hall.

The opening night will feature performances by the Hanbit Performing Arts Company's wind orchestra, whose members are visually impaired, as well as the company Dream Musical.

For the rest of the month, a diverse range of performances ranging from Popera, Korean classical music, B-boying, to comedy will be presented at 7 p.m. on weeknights and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

The annual Culture Seoul event started in 2015. More than 170 performances have been attended by 200-thousand people up until 2017.

Information on the events is available on the city's culture Web portal culture.seoul.go.kr or the Culture Seoul website www.cultureseoul.co.kr.
