President Moon Jae-in on Monday welcomed North Korea's decision to disclose to the world the shutdown of its Punggye-ri nuclear test site.
He said the move has the important meaning of marking the start of the process to completely denuclearize North Korea.
Chairing a meeting of his top aides, the president positively assessed the fact that North Korea was showing great sincerity for the success of the North Korea-U.S. summit.
Moon also highly evaluated the North Korean leader implementing agreements promised during last month's inter-Korean summit including unifying the two Koreas' time zones.
President Moon said that preparations are well under way in both the North and the United States to successfully hold their summit meeting next month aimed at the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
He said the Seoul government was also doing its part, and asked for bipartisan cooperation from political parties.
