A team made up solely of South Korean players will join the Australian Baseball League(ABL) for the 2018-19 season.

Seoul-based sports marketing firm Happy Rising announced the creation of the team on Friday, which it said will be South Korea's first professional baseball team to play in an overseas league.

The team will be based in the city of Geelong, southwest of Melbourne, and will become the eighth club in the ABL.

Happy Rising, which will handle the team's marketing and promotions, said that players will be chosen through open tryouts.

Kim Kyeong-eon, released by Korea Baseball Organization(KBO) club Hanwha Eagles after last season, has already committed to play.

The final roster for the team will be finalized by September ahead of the start of the ABL season in November.
