South Korea's ruling and opposition parties were unanimous Saturday in expressing their concern for the victims of a powerful typhoon that roared through the country, promising an extra budget for the restoration process.

Ruling party leader Chyung Dai-chul called an urgent party meeting Saturday to map out countermeasures, and said that urgent measures would be taken at the parliamentary level.

The Millennium Democratic Party leader added that a supplementary budget will be prepared for recovery expenses, though the amount was not given.

The opposition Grand National Party (GNP) leader Choe Byung-yul also said in a meeting of his party that the GNP will fully cooperate with the government in dealing with the disaster.
