South Korea's Foreign Ministry plans to open temporary consular offices in the three Russian cities where the South Korean national football team will play their World Cup group matches.

The offices will provide safety and administrative assistance for South Koreans traveling to Russia to watch the national team.

South Korea is scheduled to play its Group F matches in Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, and Kazan next month.

The ministry also held a meeting Thursday to discuss measures to enhance the safety of South Koreans heading abroad this summer for a vacation or to watch sporting events.

Officials from the antiterrorism center under the Office for Government Policy Coordination attended the meeting as well as those from the Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry, Land Ministry, Korea Customs Service and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
