A U.S. delegation currently staying in Seoul has left for the truce village of Panmunjeom to continue talks with North Korean officials to prepare for a potential summit between their leaders.

The U.S. and North Korean officials will reportedly resume talks at Tongilgak on the northern side of Panmunjeom at 10 a.m. Wednesday to fine-tune their position on the North's denuclearization and corresponding U.S. security assurances.

In talks on Sunday, the two sides are said to have narrowed their differences on the issues. Accordingly, they are expected to form a consensus on the two issues ahead of the June 12 summit in Singapore during the Wednesday talks.

Former U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Sung Kim is leading the U.S. delegation, which includes Randall Schriver, assistant secretary of defense for Asian and Pacific security affairs, and Allison Hooker, the Korea expert on the White House National Security Council. The North Korean delegation is headed by Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui.
