Rehabilitation work gets started in earnest

On Sunday, the second day after Typhoon Maemi swept through the southern part of the nation, causing severe damage to both human lives and property, the nation's civilians, government officials, and the military have joined forces to help rehabilitate the devastated areas.

In provinces where the typhoon hit the hardest, including South and North Kyungsang Province and South Cholla Province, residents, public officials and soldiers have gone all out, engaged in repair work on damaged infrastructure.

In South Kyungsang province, 10,000 persons on Monday alone were reported to have mobilized along with 200 heavy machines in 20 different cities and counties to do the rehabilitation work.

In Daegu City and other municipalities in North Kyungsang Province, 11,000 civilians and public officials and military personnel were reportedly engaged in reconstruction efforts.
