This summer is expected to be slightly hotter than previous years with less precipitation.

In its three-month weather forecast for the July to September period released Friday, the Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said average temperatures for July will be similar or slightly higher than the annual average of 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.

The amount of precipitation during the month will be similar or less than the annual average of 240 to 296 millimeters.

The KMA added that while large amounts of rain are expected during the first half of July, scorching heat will likely envelop the country in the latter half.

In August, the average mercury will range between 24-point-six and 25-point-six degrees Celsius or higher, with precipitation ranging between 220 and 322 millimeters or less.

The average mercury level for September is expected to drop to between 20-point-one and 20-point-nine degrees Celsius, and precipitation will also fall to between 74 and 221 millimeters.
