Report: South Korea's 23-man squad arrived in Rostov-on-Don on Thursday ahead of its vital FIFA World Cup match against Mexico.
South Korea will be looking to recover from its 1-0 loss to Sweden in its opening match of the tournament when it takes on Mexico at the Rostov Arena on Saturday at 6 p.m. local time.
The pressure is on Shin Tae-yong’s side to claim a win in order to be in with a chance of qualifying for the last-16 stage of the tournament.
However, Mexico will provide a stern test for the Taeguk Warriors, having already defeated defending World Cup champions Germany 1-0 on Sunday.
South Korea will have added motivation to win as President Moon Jae-in is set to attend the match.
Moon arrived in Russia on Thursday for a three-day state visit, and is set to fly to Rostov-on-Don after holding a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday.
Meanwhile, Croatia provided one of the biggest shocks of the World Cup so far on Thursday when it defeated Group D rival Argentina 3-0 in Nizhny Novgorod.
Ante Rebic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic all scored for Croatia in the second half to send the European side through to the last-16 stage and leave Argentina facing the prospect of an early exit from the competition.
In Group C, France defeated Peru 1-0 thanks to Kylian Mbappe's first-half strike to also qualify for the knockout stage of the tournament. In the day’s other game in Group C, Denmark drew 1-1 with Australia as Mile Jedinak’s penalty cancelled out Christian Eriksen’s fine effort.
