South Korean slugger Choo Shin-soo of the Texas Rangers has extended his on-base streak to 44 games, a record for an Asian player in U.S. Major League Baseball.

The Rangers' designated hitter kept the streak going with his 16th solo home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning in a home game against the Houston Astros in Texas on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Choo now owns the longest on-base streak by an Asian player in major league history, surpassing the 43-game streak set by Japan's Ichiro Suzuki for the Seattle Mariners in 2009.
