The Unification Ministry has welcomed the UN Security Council's(UNSC) adoption of new guidelines aimed at speeding the delivery of humanitarian aid to North Korea.  

A ministry official told reporters Tuesday that the UNSC's move is expected to help promote aid to the North and ease difficulties facing aid activists. 

But the official explained that South Korea's promised contribution of eight million U.S. dollars to international organizations is not directly related to the new guideline adoption. 

The official added that South Korea has been discussing the contribution with international organizations and will fulfill the promise at an appropriate time in consideration of overall conditions.
