South Korea's Defense Ministry says the inter-Korean military communication line on the eastern part of the peninsula was fully restored on Wednesday.

The complete restoration of fax and phone connections was part of an agreement reached at inter-Korean general-level military talks in June. 

In July, the two sides also fully restored their military communication line on the western part of the peninsula.

The eastern military communication line was completely severed due to a wildfire in November 2010. 

The ministry said the restored military communication lines would help contribute to the two Koreas' efforts to ease military tensions and build trust.
