The two Koreas have agreed on the organization and operation of a joint inter-Korean liaison office that will open at the Gaesong Industrial Complex in North Korea.

A South Korean government official said Friday that details have been agreed on the makeup and operation of the communications office and only administrative procedures now remain, such as the official signing of the deal.

The two sides have already begun discussions on the opening of the office, which is expected some time next week.

Considering global sanctions on North Korea, the Seoul government is known to be sending electricity across the border to power the liaison office, with a trial supply having begun on Tuesday.

South Korea is reviewing whether to open the joint office even if an exception to global sanctions is not granted.

The two Koreas agreed to establish the liaison office during the April summit between their leaders.
