Ground crews in South Korea are standing-by for the second day for first-time communications with a scientific research satellite which was successfully launched into space on Saturday.

The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology said that it had failed to hold communication contact with the ST-Sat 1 for the third time as of Sunday morning.

The institute said it had experienced similar difficulties with the three previous scientific research satellites it had launched, adding it was able to hold communication with them after the fourth try.
