President Moon Jae-in will send his special envoy to Pyongyang next week.

Amid the diplomatic stalemate between the U.S. and North Korea, Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom revealed the plan on Friday.

North Korea is said to have accepted the offer for the visit Friday afternoon.

The spokesman said the envoy will leave on Wednesday to coordinate on a wide range of issues, including details for the upcoming inter-Korean summit in September.

The envoy will also discuss the denuclearization issue and ways to improve cross border ties, according to the spokesman.

The president has not decided who will lead the delegation.

The spokesman said it is also unclear if the envoy will meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
