Beijing has confirmed that Seoul’s presidential security adviser will fly to China over the weekend to sit down with China’s top official on diplomatic issues.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying said in a regular media briefing on Friday Director of the Office of the Chinese Communist Party's Foreign Affairs Commission Yang Jiechi will hold talks with South Korea's national security adviser Chung Eui-yong in Beijing on Saturday as promised.
Hua said the two sides will share opinions on the issues of mutual interests, such as the situations on the Korean Peninsula and the Seoul-Beijing relations.
Earlier in the day, South Korean Presidential Spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom said that President Moon Jae-in will send Chung and National Intelligence Service Director Suh Hoon to China and Japan, respectively, to brief on the outcomes of Seoul's special envoys to the North on Wednesday.
