KBS, Gov't to Co-Host International K-Pop Competition

The South Korean government and KBS are co-hosting an international K-pop competition next month in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. 

The 2018 K-Pop World Festival is scheduled for October fifth at 7 p.m. at at Changwon Sports Park. 

It's an annual event, and one of the world’s largest K-Pop events. 

A total of 90 teams from 75 countries competed in the preliminaries at South Korean diplomatic posts overseas, and 12 finalists will compete during the eighth festival, including from Africa, Asia, North and South America and Europe. 

Several K-Pop groups are invited to perform during the event, including Wanna One, Red Velvet, Hyolyn, AOA, Pentagon, Momoland and Stray Kids. 

The competition airs on KBS2TV on October 20th and 21st along with a documentary about the competitors.
