Heavy Rains Pounding Jeju Island

Heavy rains are pounding Jeju Island, inundating roads and buildings. 

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration’s Jeju office on Thursday, a heavy rain warning is in place for the southern, eastern and northern parts of the island, while a heavy rain advisory has been issued for the western part.

Between Wednesday and 9 a.m. Thursday, Jeju City saw 94 millimeters of rain, Seogwipo nearly 173 millimeters, Seongsan some 252 millimeters, Jeju’s typhoon center 311 millimeters and the Halla Eco-Forest some 257 millimeters.

Heavy rain and wind shear warnings have been issued for Jeju International Airport but no major disruptions have been reported in flight operations.
