National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong says military authorities of the two Koreas are trying out a rudimentary level of operational arms control.

At the 2018 Seoul Defense Dialogue Thursday, Chung said concrete discussions are under way with North Korea on halting hostile acts against each other, and on setting up a peace zone in the Yellow Sea to prevent armed clashes and ensure safe fishing activities.

Chung then said during next week’s inter-Korean summit, the leaders of the two Koreas will discuss substantial ways for denuclearization.

Referring to significant agreements reached during his recent visit to Pyongyang as the presidential special envoy, Chung said the two Koreas have agreed to conclude discussions on military cooperation at next week’s summit and adopt an accord on building military trust.
