North Korea's state media on Friday reported on the joint trip to Mount Baekdu by the leaders of the two Koreas, calling it a "historic event."

The Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported that South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un visited the sacred mountain of the Korean people Thursday, the last day of Moon's three-day trip to Pyongyang.

The report said Moon and Kim enjoyed the scenic view at the mountain's peak and strolled around the famous crater lake called Heaven Lake or “Chonji.”

The KCNA said the two leaders climbing the mountain together was a historic event that marked a step towards a new era of peace and prosperity.
