The Ministry of Construction and Transportation said on Wednesday South Korea and Qatar have agreed to begin regular commercial flights between their respective capitals in late October.

The ministry said that at a bilateral aviation conference held in the Qatari capital of Doha Sept. 29-30, the two countries agreed to launch two weekly flights between Seoul and Doha, adding that a separate agreement was also reached on bilateral code-sharing regulations.

A ministry official predicted that regular flights to Doha, the host of the 2001 WTO talks and the 2006 Asian Games, would help boost cooperation between South Korea and the Middle East.
