KBS has exclusively obtained a government plan for possible inter-Korean cooperation to restore water resources along the Bukhangang River.

The plan details changes in resource management around South Korea's Hwacheon Dam and North Korea's Mount Geumgang Dam.

South Korea is considering a proposal to change the way water is released from Mount Geumgang Dam, in order to increase the power generation capacity of five South Korean dams and reverse the depletion of local fish.

The North would be compensated with electricity and fertilizer.

However, the envisioned plan would require a loosening of global sanctions imposed on the North over its nuclear weapons program.
