South and North Korea will discuss this week a plan to upgrade their communications network.

Seoul’s Unification Ministry said in a press release on Wednesday that the working-level talks will be held at the joint liaison office on Friday. It will focus on steps to replace copper wires used in their direct communication lines with fiber optic cables.

The meeting was arranged after it was proposed by the North last Thursday.
