Twelve cars from Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors have received the highest rating in crash tests overseen by a U.S. agency. 

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said on Wednesday that seven Hyundai cars, including three premium Genesis brands, and five Kia vehicles met criteria to qualify for its first-tier Top Safety Pick+ award. 

It is the highest number of awards given to a single automaker’s group in  the tests.
