Officials from South Korea and Japan are meeting in Seoul to negotiate a new fisheries agreement.

The meeting, the first of its kind, will check on whether the fisheries accord negotiated last year was observed. The two sides are also expected to designate the waters in their exclusive economic zones where vessels from each country will be allowed to fish and to set their catch quotas.
