A group of South Korean lawmakers have toured the Gaesong Industrial Complex under construction in the North's border city.

The lawmakers ... all from the National Assembly's Construction and Transportation Committee ... were accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Construction and Transportation

The parliamentary delegation checked out the progress of the construction project, which is jointly being carried out by the South's Korea Land Corporation and Hyundai Asan Corporation. The team also visited the construction site for reconnecting cross-border rails and road links.

The state-run land development agency plans to spend some two-hundred-20 billion won in the project to build the mammoth industrial complex, which includes a supporting city.

Some three hundred South Korean labor-intensive manufacturers are expected to move operations into the industrial park after its completion in 2007.
