German Ambassador Files Request to Meet Justice Minister Kang

In the wake of the arrest of South Korean-born German scholar Song Doo-yul, a German newspaper has reported that the German Ambassador to Seoul, Michael Geier, has filed a request to meet with Justice Minister Kang Kum-sil over the issue.

In its Thursday edition, the Frankfurter Allgemllgemeine Zeitung said the German embassy also expressed its concerns to the South Korean Foreign Ministry over the arrest of the German citizen.

The report quoted Song Lin, the son of the dissident scholar, as saying his father is being pressured by prosecutors to admit to his membership in the Politburo of the North
