International donors have agreed to contribute a total of 33 billion dollars to help rebuild war-torn Iraq following a two-day conference with participating countries in Madrid.
Participants of the meeting said Saturday the figure includes 20-point-three billion dollars pledged in advance by the United States, five billion dollars from Japan, one billion dollars from Saudi Arabia and 1-point-five billion from Kuwait.
South Korea will donate some two hundred million dollars in the next four years to help rebuild the war-torn country.
The total donation, however, fell far short of the 56 billion dollars in needs previously identified by the United Nations and the World Bank.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund said it plans to extend as much as four-point-two billion dollars in loans for the next three years while the World Bank plans to commit three to five billion dollars in loans to Iraq for the next five years.
