The 2nd World Ceramic Biennale is closing its 60-day run on Thursday.

The biennial event is being held in three cities ... Icheon, Gwangju and Yeoju ... all in the central Gyeonggi Province ... under the theme "passion, elegance and fragrance." Ceramic works from 68 countries are on display.

As of Monday, the number of visitors stood at 470-thousand, including some six thousand foreigners. The total number of visitors is projected to top 500-thousand by the closing day.

The number is far short of the event's target figure of 600 thousand, but organizers are nevertheless satisfied, seeing the figure as a success ... given the overall economic slowdown and the resulting decline in the number foreign tourists, along with bad weather.
