Former President Kim Dae-jung Monday called the dispute over North Korea's nuclear development program "extremely dangerous" and said he would be glad to contribute to bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula.

In the summary of his speech distributed prior to the opening ceremony of a library dedicated in his name, Kim urged a swift resolution of the North Korean nuclear row, adding that for peace to be established on the Korean Peninsula, inter-Korean and U.S.-North Korea relations must improve simultaneously.

The former president also announced that, despite his retirement from politics, he stood ready to do everything possible for the reconciliation, cooperation and peace of the people.

Besides President Roh, National Assembly Speaker Park Kwan- yong, leaders of the ruling and opposition parties and ambassadors from 40 nations attended the dedication ceremony.
